What You Need To Qualify

Hayes Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Baldwin is looking to hire skilled automotive technicians. The most elite technicians set themselves apart with certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, which you can earn with hands-on experience and specialized knowledge. Here's how you can become an ASE Certified technician.

To even qualify to take your ASE Certification test, you need to provide proof that you have real-world work experience in the automotive industry. The amount you need varies according to certification that you're trying to achieve. On top of that, your experience needs to be applicable to the certification that you're testing for.

For example, a repair technician needs 1-3 years of experience in order to qualify for the test. You can also substitute relevant formal training for some of your work experience requirements. Furthermore, for most tests, you can take the test prior to having completely fulfilled your work experience requirement. After taking the test, you will receive your score, but you'll only receive your formal certification once you've met your work experience requirement.

In order to keep your ASE Certification, you must re-test every five years to show that you have up-to-date knowledge on the latest automotive innovations.
